Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - White Walls - Official Video, Lyrics & Review

Lyrics

     Play Song
"White Walls"
(feat. Schoolboy Q & Hollis)

I wanna be free, I wanna just live
Inside my Cadillac, that is my shit
Now throw it up (now throw that up)
That’s what it is (that’s what it is)
In my C A D I L L A C bitch (bitch)

Can’t see me through my tints (nah ah)
I’m riding real slow (slow motion)
In my paint wet dripping shining like my 24’s (umbrella)
I don't got 24’s (nah ah)
But I’m on those Vogues
That’s those big white walls,
R-r-round them hundred spokes
Old school like old English in that brown paper bag
I’m rolling in that same whip that my granddad had
Hello, haters, damn y’all mad
30k on the Caddy, now how backpack rap is that?

I got that off-black Cadillac, midnight drive
Got that gas pedal, leaned back, taking my time
I’m rollin' out, roof off, letting in sky
I shine, the city never looked so bright

Man I’m lounging in some shit Bernie Mac would’ve been proud of
Looking down from heaven like damn that’s stylish
Smilin’, don’t pay attention to the mileage
Can I hit the freeway? Illegally going a hundred and twenty
Easy weaving in and out of the traffic
They cannot catch me, I’m smashing
I’m ducking bucking them out here
I’m looking fucking fantastic, I am up in a classic
Now I know what it’s like under the city lights
Riding into the night, driving over the bridge
The same one we walked across as kids
Knew I’d have a whip but never one like this
Old school, old school, Candy paint, two seater
Yea, I’m from Seattle, there’s hella Honda Civics
I couldn’t tell you about paint either
But I really wanted a Caddy so I put in the hours
And roll on over to the dealer
And I found the car, junior, there's a bargain with this geezer
Got the keys in and as I was leaving I started screaming

I got that off-black Cadillac, midnight drive
Got that gas pedal, leaned back, taking my time
I’m rollin' out, roof off, letting in sky
I shine, the city never looked so bright

Backwoods and dope
White hoes in the backseat snorting coke
She doing line after line like she’s writing rhymes
I had it hella my love, tryna blow her mind
Cadillac pimpin’, my uncle was on
14 I stole his keys
Me and my niggas was gone
Stealin' portions of his liquor, water in his Patron
Drivin' smiling like I won a fucking lottery homes (fuckin' lottery homes)
Tires with the spokes on it and the Vogues, too
Mustard and mayonnaise, keeping the buns
All of my dogs hanging out the window
Young as whoosh, fucking like we ball
Tryna fuck em all, kill the fucking whip
See what’s poppin’ at the mall, meet a bad bitch
Slap her booty with my palms
You can smoke the pussy, I was tearing down the walls
I’m motherfuckin’ awe...some

Swear these eyes tryna hypnotize
Grip the leather steering wheel while I grip the thighs
See the lust stuck up in her eyes
Maybe she like the ride or did she like the smoke?
Or does she want it low?
This shit a Coupe de Ville so you’ll never know
So we cruise for a minute, my nigga fuck the limit
Got a window tinted for showing gangsta in it
Slice when the gas is finished, Q

Off-black Cadillac, midnight drive
Got that gas pedal, leaned back, taking my time
I’m rollin' out, roof off, letting in sky
I shine, the city never looked so bright

Got that off-black Cadillac, midnight drive
Got that gas pedal, leaned back, taking my time
I’m rollin' out, roof off, letting in sky

Review

Given that Macklemore made a name (and a fortune) for himself by choosing quirky Thrift Shop clothes over designer brands, you’d expect the Seattle representative to make a similarly classic, economical selection when shopping for a whip. Well, one out of two ain’t bad. The latest single off his and Ryan Lewis‘s hit collaborative album finds the rapper rolling down the city streets in an old-school Caddy with White Walls. Though the mileage ain’t nothing to write home about, as he admits over his partner’s brass-led boardwork, the vehicle’s retro stylings simply can’t be beat. Black Hippy member ScHoolboy Q delivers a debauched guest verse on the back, and Emerald City singer Hollis contributes a catchy hook. In keeping with his instrumental’s slight Ennio Morricone vibe, Lewis draws from Spaghetti Western iconography in the official visuals. For White Walls and much more, cop Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s The Heist LP, available now wherever fine music is sold.

Lyrics

I said that I’ma ride for my motherfucking niggas,
Most likely I’ma die with my finger on the trigger
I've been grinding outside, all day with my niggas
And I ain’t going in, unless I'm with my nigga

Fucked my first bitch passed her to my nigga

So when I see you out I’m like hey, my nigga
Tried to act right, buy the case my niggas
Drink the act right and get straight with my niggas
Me and my nigga riding dirty, tryna chase them figures
Who got the yola? who got the yola? Don’t matter, go figure

I said that I’ma ride for my motherfucking niggas,
Most likely I’ma die with my finger on the trigger
I've been grinding outside, all day with my niggas
And I ain’t going in, unless I'm with my nigga
My nigga, my nigga
My nigga, my nigga (YG, my nigga)
My nigga, my nigga (Rich Homie, my nigga)
My nigga, my nigga (My nigga, my nigga)

My nigga sell cake, my nigga got weight
My nigga fronted me, he the reason I'm straight

Adore You - Miley Cyrus Video, Lyrics and Review

Lyrics

"Adore You"

Oh, hey, oh

Baby, baby, are you listening?
Wondering where you've been all my life
I just started living
Oh, baby, are you listening?

When you say you love me
Know I love you more
And when you say you need me
Know I need you more
Boy, I adore you, I adore you

Baby, can you hear me?
When I'm crying out for you
I'm scared oh, so scared
But when you're near me
I feel like I'm standing with an army
Of men armed with weapons, hey, oh

When you say you love me
Know I love you more
And when you say you need me
Know I need you more
Boy, I adore you, I adore you

I love lying next to you
I could do this for eternity
You and me—we're meant to be
In holy matrimony
God knew exactly what he was doing
When he led me to you

When you say you love me
Know I love you more (I love you more)
And when you say you need me
Know I need you more
Boy, I adore you, I adore you

When you say you love me
Know I love you more
And when you say you need me
Know I need you more
Boy, I adore you, I adore you

Review

Miley Cyrus' racy new clip for "Adore You" leaked online yesterday, one day early of its scheduled release. The pop star shrugged it off. "We all know Smilers would break another record if it wasn't for the fuck face who leaked my video," the pop star tweeted of the Bangerz single. "Alllllll good! Keep smiling :)"

The suggestive clip finds Cyrus singing her devotional ballad while writhing beneath the covers, clad in just skin-colored undergarments as she simulates masturbation. The scene eventually switches to a bath and her outfit to skimpy black lace.

The video caps off a massive year for Cyrus, whose new record Bangerz – and all the nude, twerk-filled, cat-assisted and ganja-indulging antics accompanying it – solidified her spot as a new, unstoppable pop force. "I said I was going to take a year off before I made this record," Cyrus told Rolling Stone earlier this year. "But it's hard to take a break. It's almost depressing when you're not working. You're so used to people calling your name, and that energy, and when you don't have it anymore. . ."

Cyrus will help ring in 2014 when she appears and performs in Times Square on December 31st for Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve. (Other performers include Blondie and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.) She will also keep up that momentum when she hits the road behind Bangerz next year; the 38-date arena tour kicks off February 14th in Vancouver and will feature opening acts Icona Pop and Sky Ferreira.

Let It Go - Idina Menzel Video, Lyrics and Review

Lyrics

The snow glows white on the mountain tonight
Not a footprint to be seen
A kingdom of isolation,
And it looks like I’m the Queen.

The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside
Couldn’t keep it in, heaven knows I tried

Don’t let them in, don’t let them see
Be the good girl you always have to be
Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let them know
Well, now they know

Let it go, let it go
Can’t hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door

I don’t care
What they’re going to say
Let the storm rage on,
The cold never bothered me anyway

It’s funny how some distance
Makes everything seem small
And the fears that once controlled me
Can’t get to me at all

It’s time to see what I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me
I’m free

Let it go, let it go
I am one with the wind and sky
Let it go, let it go
You’ll never see me cry

Here I stand
And here I'll stay
Let the storm rage on

My power flurries through the air into the ground
My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around
And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast
I’m never going back,
The past is in the past

Let it go, let it go
When I'll rise like the break of dawn
Let it go, let it go
That perfect girl is gone

Here I stand
In the light of day
Let the storm rage on,
The cold never bothered me anyway

The soundtrack for Disney's Oscar frontrunner "Frozen" continues to climb the Billboard 200 chart, currently at number eight. On iTunes, "Frozen" is the number one most-downloaded soundtrack album in the US, France, UK, Germany, Finland and Australia, among many other countries. Meanwhile, the film is still holding strong at the box office, with domestic grosses at $250 million. Stream the soundtrack on Spotify here.

EARLIER: Disney has released a clip from the centerpiece of "Frozen": Idina Menzel's Queen Elsa -- aka the Snow Queen -- singing "Let It Go," as she learns to accept her chilly nature. Watch below, along with the full-length audio of the song and a humorous clip in which Kristen Bell's Anna makes her way into a department store tavern of sorts, looking for winter boots -- and also news of the Snow Queen. As it turns out, the shop's having a "big summer blowout."

Disney's return to the princess musical is the Oscar frontrunner and so is this song, belted by theater veteran Menzel, who as you may recall, played the Wicked Witch in "Wicked." There's also an element of that angry, sad, powerful, lonely sorceress out of control in this role of a princess isolated by her magical abilities to freeze the world around her. She sings this song after she flees to the mountains and, free to unleash her powers, builds a magnificent ice palace.

Kid Ink is a new emerging rapper in the music industry and his new song Show Me with Chris Brown is one infectious track. Typically speaking, it is all what Rnb/Hip-Hop lovers want, a track that has a chorus that is bound to be stuck in your head and doof doof beats that could go miles away when heard playing loudly from your car subwoofers. What makes Show Me so bad ass is the way Kid Ink just chimes his way through the track without interrupting the soulful vocals of Chris Brown. This what makes the dynamic duo complement each other, making the track such a people pleaser for anyone that just wants to get the party started.

KidInkShowMeI’m sure DJ Mustard had a lot of fun producing Show Me and what I’ve found interesting about music in general is the fact that being simple and creative can take you to places, no matter what genre it is. It’s clear from the beginning that Chris Brown and Kid Ink work well with one another and with the simplicity of Chris Brown’s hooks and Kid Ink’s rapping, they both create this vibrant RnB vibe throughout the song which makes it enjoyable and easy to listen to. Instantly, it grasps your attention and once it does exactly that, you’re hooked. The track hypnotises you and puts you into this little trance where you naturally bop your head wishing that you could be in a room full of strangers, soaking up the heat of everyone else’s bodies and inhale whatever’s left of your innocence. For one night only, you can completely free yourself from all boundaries and feel like you have the authority of doing whatever you want.

Show Me  has a way of turning heads with its fiery and sophisticated beat. However, this track was typically made for the radio and let’s just say you’d probably skip to the next station if you hear this track more than three times a day. You’re better off reserving it for a special night where people are just keen to party and Show Me just hits the spot

Wake Me Up! Avicii Video, Lyrics & Review

Lyrics

Feeling my way through the darkness
Guided by a beating heart
I can't tell where the journey will end
But I know where to start

They tell me I'm too young to understand
They say I'm caught up in a dream
Well life will pass me by if I don't open up my eyes
Well that's fine by me

[2x]
So wake me up when it's all over
When I'm wiser and I'm older
All this time I was finding myself
And I didn't know I was lost

I tried carrying the weight of the world
But I only have two hands
Hope I get the chance to travel the world
But I don't have any plans

Wish that I could stay forever this young
Not afraid to close my eyes
Life's a game made for everyone
And love is the prize

[2x]
So wake me up when it's all over
When I'm wiser and I'm older
All this time I was finding myself
And I didn't know I was lost

Didn't know I was lost
I didn't know I was lost
I didn't know I was lost
I didn't know (didn't know, didn't know)

Genre boundaries in popular music are made to be breached. With this single, Swedish dance music master Avicii, the man behind the worldwide smash "Levels," swings a wrecking ball against electronic dance music borders. His new single "Wake Me Up" would work equally well in a contemporary dance club and as the soundtrack for country line dancing. R&B singer Aloe Blacc adds yet another genre busting dimension to the song.

Pros

    Fearless smashing of genre boundaries
    Aloe Blacc's soulful vocals
    Powerfully catchy sound

Cons

    No major negatives

Lyrics

[Hook]
Girl you can tell everybody
Yeah you can tell everybody
Go ahead and tell everybody
I'm the man I'm the man I'm the man

[Post-Hook]
Yes I am yes I am yes I am
I'm the man I'm the man I'm the man

[Verse 1]
I believe every lie that I ever told
Paid for every heart that I ever stole
I played my cards and I didn't fold
Well it ain't that hard when you got soul
(This is my world)
Somewhere I heard that life is a test
I been through the worst but still I give my best
God made my mold different from the rest
Then he broke that mold so I know I’m blessed
(This is my world)

[Pre-Hook]
Stand up now and face the sun
Won’t hide my tail or turn and run
It’s time to do what must be done
Be a king when kingdom comes

[Hook x2] + [Post-Hook]

[Verse 2]
I got all the answers to your questions
I’ll be the teacher you could be the lesson
I’ll be the preacher you be the confession
I’ll be the quick relief to all your stressing
(This is my world)
It’s a thin line between love and hate
Is you really real or is you really fake
I’m a solider standing on my feet
No surrender and I won’t retreat
(This is my world)

[Pre-Hook] + [Hook x2] + [Post-Hook]

[Bridge]
I’m the man
Go ahead and tell everybody what I’m saying y’all
I’m the man
Go ahead and tell everybody what I’m saying y’all

[Hook x4] + [Post-Hook]

Review

Aloe Blacc is best known for his hit song “I Need A Dollar,” his last album, Good Things, was released in 2010. Good Things featured some strong songs and revealed Aloe Blacc as a funky, soulful singer that has an ability to write impactful lyrics, a gem to this generation of music. Aloe Blacc’s latest release was motivated by the success of DJ Avicci’s single “Wake Me Up!” which featured uncredited vocals from Aloe Blacc. Wake Me Up-EP is not the full-length album fans were hoping for, but the EP’s five songs pack quite a punch. The lyrics and themes on the EP are creative and meaningful; the production is stellar and at times almost steals the show from Blacc’s lyrics. Wake Me Up-EP was released in October but has not been charting well till recently. The strongest tracks on the EP are “The Man” and “Wake Me Up,” these songs set a tone that the rest of the tracks fail to match. The EP’s commercial success is going to be driven by its leading tracks, and while the proceeding tracks don’t surpass the initial two they should not be ignored.

The EP opens with “The Man,” a confident track that builds with a snare beat leading into a chorus featuring a dynamic blend of horns and string instruments. “The Man” also features a gospel choir breakdown, which adds impact to this powerful opening track.

The follow-up track to “The Man,” an acoustic version of “Wake Me Up,” is equally impactful yet ditches the dense instrumentation of the first track allowing for Blacc’s vocals and lyrics to shine. “ Wake Me Up” features the albums strongest lyrics and themes. The song is about a young person facing the uncertainty of the future, fighting the opposition from older generations who “tell me I’m too young to understand.” The vulnerability of “Wake Me Up” is an interesting juxtaposition to the confidence and swagger displayed in “The Man.” The acoustic setup complements the nature of the song allowing for the lyrics to sink in.

The next two tracks pick up the pace of the EP. “Love Is The Answer” is a song about the power of love in our lives; Blacc claims that love is “the only thing we truly need” a theme that has been used in countless songs, most notably The Beatles “All You Need Is Love.” The track is catchy and soulful, but not as engaging as the first two tracks. “Can You Do This” is the EP’s most upbeat song featuring a simple, yet catchy rhythm, that sounds like it’s lifted out of a different generation of music.

The EP comes to a close with “Ticking Bomb,” a very slow song with an ominous beat that chills the listener. Considering the strength and immediate impact of the other songs “Ticking Bomb” initially seems forgettable, however after a few listens you realize the ominous drum beat, and haunting vocals, will leave a definite impression on you.

Aloe Blacc shows his musical maturity, variety, and direction on Wake Me Up-EP. Blacc created an engaging listen that rivals most full-length albums. However Wake Me Up-EP is merely a preview of Blacc’s upcoming album Lift Your Spirit. Wake Me Up-EP has done a terrific job of raising interest for the upcoming album, however one can only hope that the albums best material was not already revealed on Wake Me Up-EP and that Blacc saved some tricks for Lift Your Spirit.
